Rob began his career as a macroeconomist at the Bank of England before moving to investment bank UBS in 1994, where he was Head of Building Society and Housing Research. He then switched to become an equity market analyst covering the banking sector for SG Warburg.
In 2001 he developed the blueprint for a pan-European mortgage funding entity and was asked by Abbey National to develop the proposal. He recruited some of Europe’s largest lenders into the project but without the required EU backing shelved the project in 2005.
After a stint advising the Council of Mortgage Lenders on policy areas such as funding, valuation and new build property, he developed the blueprint for what became the government backed NewBuy high loan-to-value lending scheme that launch in 2012.
Since 2013 he has produced acclaimed thought leadership reports based first at The Wriglesworth Consultancy and now at Instinctif Partners, while also producing independent reports on subjects such as the Euro and monetary policy. He is also a non-executive director at residential property fund manager PfP Capital Limited.
